Sally Girl Coconut. Swatches

So, I wanted to do something different yesterday. I (for reasons unknown) have been wanting to wear a baby/sky blue polish. I went outside of my comfort zone of dark "vampy" colors. I opened the drawer in my melmer that is reserved for minis and my 4 year old's growing collection, lol. Every time we go to Sally's, Layla (my 4 year old) will undoubtedly pick out at least two Sally Girl polishes. And at 99 cents, I rarely say no (ok, I never say no lol) They're usually pastel or otherwise very "girly". I have said time and time again that pastels don't work for me. I don't know if that is necessarily the "problem" so much as I'm just not used to seeing light colors on my nails. SO, here it is. Sally Girl's Coconut.

A few hours later Layla said I should add "sparkle" to it. Then said I should do it like the pink mani I did at the beginning of this challenge, here. So, I did.

That was my adventure outside of my comfort zone... I foresee more adventures in my future. You can only have so many shades of burgundy, maroon, and purple. :) Time to expand my horizons I think. :)

31 day challenge! favorite nail art technique!

SO my favorite technique is a tie between Dotticures (which I LOVE) and stamping, which while occasionally a pain in the rear can look so unbelievably awesome when it's done right. So, I combined the two. After looking at the photos I realized that I probably should have picked a different color combo, and possibly paid a little more attention while stamping. I was so happy that the stamps were transferring without issue I didn't notice that the stamps were going in different directions on each hand, oops lol. Oh well, here it is. My stamped-dotticure.

31 Day Challenge! Inspired by a blogger!

I read SOOO many different nail blogs. I decided to go with the blogger that I started reading first. And through her page on Facebook, her blog, and other outlets lead me to a world of women and some men that were just as obsessed as me and in some cases, even more so! My mani for this post is an attempted Ikat print (I think that's the name) Inspired by the first polish related blog I ever read, Miss Kayla Shevonne!
She posted a tutorial here, and there's soo many others on her page. Anyhow, here's my attempt...

31 day challenge! inspired by you!

Sorry I didn't get this posted until late in the day...

"Inspired by You" ... Yeah, about that... I started thinking, and the one thing about me that takes priority over EVERYTHING else, polish, work, reading, writing, etc.. Is my family. So while I suppose this is inspired by me, it's more inspired by what's important to me. So, I did another dotticure. I love polka dot nails. It's the birthstone colors of my kids, husband, and myself. Pearl, Aquamarine, Amethyst, Emerald, and Garnet.

Color Club Swatch

This is the second color in the pack my four year old said I needed at TJ Maxx...

There was also no name on this bottle, so I didn't know the color. I did however find this picture,
And this is what the pack looked like. So I guess, In the Lime Light, and By Design are the colors names.

After about eight hours I was bored with my nails, so I experimented with some stamping stuff and polka dots...

Wet N' Wild Fergie, Swatches & Review

My not so little brother (almost 28 years old), and almost an entire foot taller than me, lol. Anyhow, my little brother got me some polish yesterday, or I guess technically this morning. Anyhow. I see the Fergie polishes at Walgreens all the time, and none of them really strike me as unique, so I haven't purchased any. While at Walgreens yesterday my brother and I found a duo chromy/flakey polish and I had to have it, and since he bought it, I didn't break my no buy rule... Right? lol Anyhow, it's called "Ferguson Crest Syrah" Don't know a lot about Fergie, so I have no idea the significance of the name, but I'm guessing there is some. On to the pics! There's quite a few as I was trying to catch on camera what my eyes saw with the color changing and what not.

This is 3 coats. With 2 coats of Seche. The polish was a bit streaky, and it took 3 coats to get the bald spots, and streaks covered. In the polish's defense I think the streaks were due to the super wide brush that was actually too big for some of my nails so I had to angle it. I still think this polish is very pretty and it will likely get put into my full mani polishes rotation on days when doing nail art isn't a possibility. Wet N' Wild Fergie polishes are available at Walgreens (and I'm sure other places as well) they're $3.49 a bottle here in Illinois.

31 day challenge! Inspired by your country!

No introduction necessary, I think it's pretty self explanatory. Yet, I have managed an intro, LOL :) 2 more posts planned today!

a swatch from Color Club!

I was at TJ Maxx on Monday doing some potential splurge shopping for my birthday, (this was before my purse was stolen), anyhow, I had NO idea that TJ Maxx sold nail polish! There was a whole shelf of it! A lot of which I didn't want, already had, or put on my mental wish list. Anyhow, there was a two polish pack that my four year old said I "needed", I didn't argue with her, lol.

I wish I could tell you the name of this color, but I can't. It wasn't on the bottle or the box it came in.

Obviously a purple, lol. I liked the purple, but decided it was too "calm" for the mood I was in when I painted them, so I added some Color Club "Snowflake"

I apologize for the cuticles, I've been doing a long of swatching and what not lately and my finger tips are just dry as can be no matter how much cuticle cream, or hand cream I use it doesn't seem to be helping.
